Accessibility statement
This is a translation provided for convenience. The Hebrew text is the binding version: read the Hebrew version.
KnessetLens wants every person, including people with disabilities, to be able to read the information about the Knesset and the elections. We are working to make the site conform to Israeli Standard (IS) 5568 at level AA, which is based on the WCAG 2.0 guidelines, and to the Equal Rights for Persons with Disabilities (Service Accessibility Adjustments) Regulations, 5773-2013, including Regulation 35, which deals with websites.
The site may not yet meet all the requirements of the standard, and this statement does not claim otherwise. It sets out what works today and what we know is missing.
Conformance level
Our target is IS 5568 at level AA. We do not declare that the site fully meets this level until a full check has been completed.
The lists in this statement are based on a review of the site's code and on automated checks that run on every change to it. They are not a substitute for checking with a screen reader and with other assistive technologies.
What works today
- The site is written in Hebrew and displayed from right to left, and the page language is set in the code. English terms within the text are marked with their own language and reading direction.
- At the start of every page there is a "Skip to main content" link, which appears when you reach it with the keyboard.
- The page regions are marked in the code: header, main navigation, main content and footer, and every navigation region has a name.
- Every element that can receive keyboard focus has a visible focus outline.
- Every page has one main heading, and heading levels do not skip.
- Every image has alternative text, and images that are purely decorative are marked as such.
- The scores on the axes also appear as text that screen readers read aloud, including the scale and the source of the measurement. The same applies to the numbers in the vote charts and in the position map.
- Tables have header cells, and a wide table scrolls within a region that can be reached with the keyboard.
- Click targets in the navigation and on buttons are at least 44 pixels in size.
- Form fields have labels.
- You can zoom the page in the browser, the site does not block zooming, and the layout adapts to the screen size, including at a width of 360 pixels.
- The site respects the operating system's preference for reduced motion.
- There is no video or audio on the site.
- The site does not use an external accessibility plugin or an overlay. The adjustments are made in the site's own code.
Known limitations
We are aware of these limitations, and we will update the statement when they are addressed.
- In the position map on the personal page, the points for the lists are smaller than 44 pixels and so are hard to click. The same information can be found in the text and in the cards on the same page.
- The sign-up, login and mailing list forms use the Cloudflare Turnstile check. It is a third-party component, and we have not checked its accessibility ourselves.
- The Knesset documents that the site links to, such as committee transcripts, are not under our control and have not been checked.
- A full check with a screen reader has not yet been carried out.
