Pnina Tamano-Shata was elected in 2013 to the 19th Knesset on the Yesh Atid list as the first woman of Ethiopian origin in the Knesset, after immigrating to Israel in 1984 in Operation Moses. A lawyer and former journalist, she served as Minister of Aliyah and Integration between 2020 and 2022, and in the 25th Knesset she chaired the Committee on the Status of Women and Gender Equality until November 2025. She is running for the 26th Knesset on the Blue and White list, at No. 2.
