About the party

The Democrats: a list for the 26th Knesset with 119 candidates. The scores rest on the record of 28 of the candidates in previous Knessets. Plenum votes on bills are included up to 28 July 2026, and committee discussions up to 24 March 2026.

The Democrats is a party established in 2024 by the merger of the Labor Party and Meretz. The merger agreement was signed on 30 June 2024 between a Labor team headed by Yair Golan, a major general in the reserves, and a Meretz team, and the Labor convention approved it on 12 July 2024. Formally, the two parties continue to exist separately and submit a single list of candidates. In the election for the 25th Knesset in 2022, Labor, headed by Merav Michaeli, received 4 seats, and Meretz did not pass the electoral threshold. According to an update to the merger agreement, Meretz candidates were guaranteed Nos. 6, 8 and 14 on the list. According to the party, it seeks to return Israel "to a democratic, moral and safe path". In an online primary on 20 July 2026, more than 97 thousand party members voted, and first place had been reserved for Golan in advance. The list is headed by Golan, followed by Naama Lazimi, Gilad Kariv and Efrat Rayten.
