About

Ofer Cassif: No. 5 on the list of Joint List for the 26th Knesset. In previous Knessets: votes on 968 bills and attendance at 454 committee sessions. Plenum votes on bills are included up to 28 July 2026, and committee discussions up to 24 March 2026.

Ofer Cassif, born in Ramat HaSharon in 1964, holds a doctorate in political philosophy from the LSE and is a former lecturer at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and at academic colleges. In his youth he was a member of a Communist youth movement, refused to serve in the West Bank and Gaza during the First Intifada and was imprisoned. He was elected to the Knesset in 2019 on the Hadash-Ta'al list, the only Jewish representative in the faction, and has served continuously since. In 2024 he was charged with assaulting a police officer under aggravated circumstances in an incident from 2022, and the Ethics Committee suspended him after he signed a petition supporting South Africa's case against Israel in the International Court of Justice; an attempt to remove him from the Knesset failed in a plenum vote in February 2024. On 23 September 2026, the Central Elections Committee disqualified his candidacy, and on 2 October 2026 the Supreme Court overturned the disqualification by a majority of 7 to 2.
