David Bitan, a lawyer by profession, has been a Member of Knesset for Likud since 2015 and chairs the Economic Affairs Committee, having previously served as chair of the House Committee, coalition chair (from 2016 to 2017) and Deputy Speaker of the Knesset. In the bribery affair known as "Case 1803", which originated in his term as deputy mayor of Rishon LeZion, an indictment was filed against him in August 2021 on ten counts of bribery, fraud and breach of trust; the evidence stage began in December 2022 and he denies the charges. He is running on the list of Likud with Benjamin Netanyahu for the 26th Knesset, at No. 22.
