About

Aryeh Deri: No. 1 on the list of Shas for the 26th Knesset. In previous Knessets: votes on 304 bills. Plenum votes on bills are included up to 28 July 2026, and committee discussions up to 24 March 2026.

Aryeh Deri, born in Meknes, Morocco, in 1959, has headed the Shas party since 2013 and is a veteran Member of Knesset. He served as Interior Minister from 1988 to 1993, was then convicted in 1999 of bribery and fraud, and served an actual prison sentence until 2002. He returned to political activity and was convicted again in December 2021, under a plea agreement, of tax offenses, and received a suspended sentence and a fine. He was appointed Interior and Health Minister at the end of 2022, but the High Court of Justice disqualified his appointment in January 2023 because of his criminal record and he was dismissed from his posts. In 2026 he is running with Shas for the 26th Knesset at No. 1.
